Paying for hosting with Monero, step by step
How to pay a crypto invoice with XMR cleanly: choosing a wallet, sending the exact amount and keeping proof of payment.
Why Monero?
Bitcoin, Ethereum and most stablecoins live on fully public ledgers: anyone can follow the money between addresses. Monero hides sender, receiver and amount by default, so your hosting payment isn't permanently linked to the rest of your wallet history.
1. Pick a wallet you control
Use a non-custodial wallet where you hold the seed: Feather Wallet or the official Monero GUI on desktop, Cake Wallet on mobile. Write the seed phrase down offline. Paying straight from an exchange account works, but the exchange then knows what you paid for.
2. Fund it
Acquire XMR in whatever lawful way suits you, and send it to your own wallet first. Let it settle (10 confirmations, about 20 minutes) before paying an invoice.
3. Pay the invoice exactly
Each invoice shows a unique subaddress and an exact XMR amount, locked for the invoice window. Copy both. Don't type them by hand. Send the precise amount, and pay the network fee on top so the invoice isn't underpaid.
4. Keep proof
In your wallet, open the transaction and save the transaction ID and transaction key ("Get proof" in most wallets). With those, we can verify your payment even if something goes wrong, without you revealing anything else about your wallet.
5. Confirmation and provisioning
Once the payment has enough confirmations, typically 20 to 30 minutes, the invoice is marked paid and your server is provisioned. Credentials go to the contact method you gave us.
Good habits
Use a fresh contact address for hosting. Don't reuse the subaddress from an old invoice. If you top up a prepaid balance, renewals happen without any new payment trail.
Put it into practice
A VPS S plan is enough for most guides.
